FANCY // This entire trip feels so fancy. After so many years of illness to be able to travel now and experience what I’ve only been able to read about or see in movies, feels like a waking dream. One of my favorite things in Venice has been the modern art exhibit going on right now. It’s free and the exhibits are sprinkled throughout the city, each one taking place in an old building in order to contrast the new art with the old. The modern art has been interesting, but the real treat has been to peek inside the Venetian homes and imagine how they lived. There must have been so many balls in all those beautiful ballrooms. And this is where the merchant who would have owned this home would have unloaded his wares from the gondola. Pretty swanky garage door.
