TRANSITIONS // Last night another Collective came to a close amidst tears and laughter. And this time we ended with a beginning – the start of a new tradition. It was our first ever Mama’s Here Pageant. Which is now my favorite thing ever.
.
Each woman had the opportunity to share something simple (or elaborate) in order to truly be seen.
.
That’s it. That’s what it was. “Mama’s here. What do you want to tell me? Show me. I want to see.” Just space. And connection. A pageant of presence. A display of a mother’s full attention and unconditional love.
.
So we each took our turn as the excited child and then as the eager mother. And the performances ranged from one woman’s revelation about her deepening relationship to God, to another woman’s freedom from the old shame of her menstrual cycle. There was self forgiveness and celebration of dreams coming true. There was a testament to the power of boundaries, and a laugh about the truth that the fear of setting them is always worse than the reality. There were shared tears of deep, heart wrenching grief.
.
And now, there is an ending but it’s really just a beginning, because going forward they each have a strong foundation to rest their light on so that they can shine in all their glory.
