The Artist
Kim Rowe
Charlotte, NC
I paint on the iterations of life — the ebb and flow of experience — through mementos and memories, comforts and charms.
Beginnings
I began painting for the first time in June 2025, taking lessons at Holt School of Fine Art, as I was feeling more like myself again after concurrent surgeries.
Through years of my health struggles, imagery had been percolating on feminism, trauma, joy, bodies, childhood, motherhood, pain, and home. I finally had a bit of energy to gain some painting skills and attempt to bring these ideas to life.
Primarily, I found combining the lusciousness of oil paint with the nostalgic colors of my childhood made for an irresistible practice that continues to heal me, so I just keep painting.
